What booking direct changes

01

Choose the right activity level

Use the difficulty guide and tour comparison rather than picking from photographs alone.

02

Keep the day realistic

Aki plans around weather, transport, trail conditions and the pace of the guests booked that day.

03

Stay connected before the tour

Direct bookings include flexible pre-tour communication. Aki takes photos during every tour and sends each booking party its own relevant photos afterwards.

When and where

Picture your Hakone day before you book

Hakone changes with elevation and season

Spring

Late-March colour may begin in lower Hakone while higher routes remain cooler. Conditions vary each year.

Rainy season

Wet stone paths need extra care. Aki may adjust the route, timing or transport when rain affects safety.

Autumn

Colour often builds from late October into early November, with different timing around Hakone-Yumoto and Sengokuhara.

Cooler months

Expect shorter daylight and colder air. Mt Fuji may be clearer on some days, but a view is never guaranteed.

Before you choose

Three common Hakone tour questions

Do I need to be an experienced hiker?

No. The introductory and half-day choices begin at difficulty 1/5 or 2/5. The full Hachiri is 3/5, while the caldera route is a demanding 4/5. Check the walking time as well as the number, and ask Aki if you are unsure.

Will I see Mt Fuji?

Mt Fuji is weather-dependent and never guaranteed. Cooler, clearer days can improve the chance, but cloud can hide the mountain in any season.

What if it rains?

Some tours can continue in light rain with suitable clothing. Aki may change the route, use transport, shorten the walk or cancel when trail and weather conditions are unsafe.
