- Third-party platform policies apply to bookings made through those platforms. Bookings already confirmed before 12 October 2026 keep the terms they were booked under.
3. Health and fitness
Routes vary from mostly level forest paths to steep, uneven and remote mountain terrain. Choose a tour suited to your ability and tell us in advance about medical conditions, pregnancy, severe allergies or mobility needs that may affect safety. We may decline participation if someone’s health places them or the group at risk.
4. Safety and liability
Forest and mountain travel carries inherent risks, including slips, falls, changing weather, wildlife and insects. Follow your guide’s instructions. Coconuts Hike Japan is not liable for injuries, accidents, lost or damaged belongings, or delays and changes caused by circumstances outside our control. Travel insurance, including medical and evacuation cover, is strongly recommended.
5. Weather and itinerary changes
Light rain and ordinary mountain weather normally go ahead. We may modify, postpone or cancel a tour because of typhoons, heavy rain or snow, volcanic activity warnings, trail closures or other safety concerns.
6. What to bring
Bring water, rain protection, sun protection and a warm layer. Footwear depends on the route: comfortable shoes with grip are sufficient for the two easy forest-bathing sessions; shoes with good grip suit the Temple walk; proper hiking shoes are required for the Valley walk and more demanding hiking tours. Ground mats and tea or coffee served by Aki are included on all four Breathe Hakone experiences. Drinks purchased at teahouses or shops are paid separately.
7. Conduct and respect for the forest
Disruptive behaviour, alcohol abuse or ignoring safety instructions may result in removal without a refund. Follow Leave No Trace principles, carry out all rubbish and do not disturb plants or wildlife.
8. Photography and privacy
Aki brings his camera on every tour and provides photos to guests who would like them and consent to being photographed. Forest bathing focuses on the experience, so fewer photos may be taken. You are welcome to decline photography; we respect your choice. If we would like to use photographs or video for promotion, we will ask for your consent. Personal information is handled under Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information; see our Privacy Policy.
Acknowledgement
By booking, you confirm that you have read and accept these terms, have chosen a tour appropriate to your ability and understand the inherent risks.
