Hakone weather is not always stable. A wet forecast does not automatically mean the tour is cancelled, but safety always takes priority over completing a planned route.
Light rain
Many Hakone walks can continue in light rain. Forests can feel especially atmospheric, but cobblestones, roots and wooden steps may be slippery. Bring a waterproof jacket, quick-drying layers and shoes with reliable grip. Loan rain jackets may be available if requested before the tour.
Unsafe conditions
Typhoon conditions, heavy rain, strong wind, lightning, transport disruption or a trail closure can make the planned route unsafe. Aki monitors conditions and may use a safer route, reschedule the tour or issue a refund in line with the published weather and cancellation terms.
What to do before your tour
- Check messages from Aki before leaving your accommodation.
- Do not rely only on a city forecast; mountain conditions can differ.
- Keep your schedule flexible when severe weather is possible.
- Contact Aki if transport disruption affects your meeting time.
